❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Can I bring my family?
Yes, your partner and children can apply to join you or stay in the UK as your 'dependants' if they are eligible. Note: Care workers (SOC 6145) and senior care workers (SOC 6146) can no longer bring dependants.
How long can I stay?
Your visa can last for up to 5 years before you need to extend it. You'll need to apply to extend or update your visa when it expires or if you change jobs or employer.
When can I apply for ILR (PR)?
You can apply to settle permanently in the UK (Indefinite Leave to Remain) after you've lived and worked in the UK for 5 years on a Skilled Worker visa.
What if my salary is lower than £38,700?
You might still be eligible if you can trade 'tradable points'. For example, if you have a PhD relevant to your job, or your job is on the Immigration Salary List, the minimum salary requirement may be lower.
