❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Can I work part-time on the Opportunity Card?
Yes! You are allowed to work up to 20 hours per week in any job (even unskilled) to support yourself while looking for qualified employment.
Do I need my degree fully recognised in Germany?
No. Unlike the old Job Seeker Visa, your degree only needs to be recognised in your home country (e.g., India) and you need A1 German OR B2 English.
What happens if I don't find a job in 1 year?
If you don't find qualified employment within 12 months, you must leave Germany. The card cannot be extended.
Can I bring my family?
Generally, family reunification is not possible on the Opportunity Card itself. You must convert to a full work visa/Blue Card first.
