Overview
The Innovator Founder Visa is for individuals who want to set up or run a business in the UK that is 'innovative, viable, and scalable'. Your business or business idea must be endorsed by an approved body. This route has replaced the previous Innovator and Start-up visa routes.
Eligibility Criteria
- Your business idea must be new - you cannot join a business that is already trading.
- Your business idea must be innovative - it must be original and different from anything else on the market.
- Your business must be viable, with potential for growth.
- You must be endorsed by an approved endorsing body.
- You must meet the English language requirement (at least level B2).
- You must have enough personal savings to support yourself in the UK.
Required Documents
- A valid passport.
- An endorsement letter from an approved body.
- A detailed business plan.
- Proof of English language proficiency.
- Evidence of personal savings (bank statements).
- Tuberculosis (TB) test results if applicable.
Application Process
- Business Plan: Develop a unique, innovative, and scalable business plan.
- Endorsement: Apply to an approved endorsing body for an endorsement letter.
- Visa Application: Apply online for the Innovator Founder Visa within 3 months of endorsement.
- Pay Fees: Pay the application fee and the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS).
- Biometrics: Attend an appointment at a visa application centre.
- Decision: Receive your visa decision (usually within 3 weeks).
Processing Time & Fees
Processing Time: Usually 3 weeks if you’re outside the UK, or 8 weeks if you’re inside the UK.
Fees: £1,191 if you apply from outside the UK, or £1,486 if you apply from inside the UK. Endorsing bodies may also charge fees.
